Photographing Buildings

Hello fellow internet users.

When taking photographs of achitecture to should concider how much light is being exposed as if there is too much contrast is could cause fooling to the camera leaving camera with a faulse picture. If the photographer uses a fish eye lense this causes the camera to capture much more than a regular lense, helping the camera capturing the full beauty of a building. When taking photograph's of building the key is to find a certain part of the building for example if a building has mirrored windows you are able to capture the reflects from the building.

Shutter speed

Hello fellow internet users.

When taking a photography there are three main parts with the exposure triangle which are ISO, Aperture and shutter speed. When using shutter speed this is the timing of the camera for the shutter to open. As the shutter speed is measured in fractions the average shutter speed that is used is 1/60, the reason of this is because of the size of the number, if the number is bigger then the shutter speed will be much quicker. when using shutter speed 1/60 you need a steady hand of a tripod as the camera will be able to capture every movemnt which made than if the fraction was 1/1000.

For example in this picture the camera was able to capture two people running creating a blurred figure showing movement, in this picture the shuter speed as 1/30.

By using a much larger fraction the shutter speed was faster so that the camera was able to capture a full figure jumping in the air without any blur. By doing this the camera was set to 1/1000.

If you are wanting to capture the full feel of people moving in the background in this picture one person is stood still in the middle with two other people running in circles creating a blurred effect, by doing so the camera was set on 1/30.

When using shutter speed in this picture the camera was able to caputre a figer spinning around on a chair, this photograph gives a slight visablility effect wiith a ful figure still being shown, by doing this the shutter speed was 1/40, this picture was also taken by hand causing the background to have a blurred effect.

The work with Lines

Hello fellow internet users.

When using line within photogrpahy it is used to create a more powerful effect towards the auidnce, by doing this the picture it causes the human eye so that it feels looking it is looking through a story which is being told by the picture keeping the audiences attention with an emotion side of the photograph increasing the impact that it gives.

Rule of Third

Hello fellow internet users.

When using the rule of thirds the whole point of using this rule is to line up the picture which is being taken by lining up the picture with each line, by doing this the picture will look more of a professional to the eye.

With this picture of a person, by using the rule of thirds I need to scale the picture to the right size, once I made the picture bigger so it was able to be lined up I then lined up the eyes with the top line creating a more centred picture.

When using the rule of thirds when taking a picture of a sign I didn't need to do as much scaling to size, this picture is lined up with the line on the right hand side. By doing this I centred the line so that the picture of the dog was placed in the middle of the line of the right of the rule of thirds.

When using the rule of thirds when taking a picture from the side of a person I was having to scale to size so that I was able to line up the persons eyes with the top line causing the picture looking looking so far out. I also lined up the ears so that the line on the right hand side was running through the side of the persons head.

When taking a picture of a bus passing by, when using the rule of thirds I was having to line up the centre of the bus so that it was in line with the line which is on the left side of the rule of thirds scale. By doing this is causes the audience to feel as if the bus is driving right past them.

When using rule of thirds when taking a picture of a flower I needed to move the picture upwards so that the top of the stigma was in line with the top line of the rule of thirds, I also scaled the picture to size making the flower run through the line of the left hand side.

When using the rule of thirds when taking a picture of a crisp packet the picture first needed to be scaled to size so that the object was able to be placed correctly within the lines, when doing this the middle of the crisp packet was positioned through the line on the right hand side with the top of the packet running through the top line of the rule of thirds.

When using the rule of thirds when taking a picture of a leaf the picture was having to be scales to size so that it was able to be match up to the lines, with this the leaf if running through the left line with the start of the stem is placed in line with the top line, this is so that the leaf doesn't look so centered making it more visual for the audience.

When using the rule of thirds with a post the picture the middle of the post was lined up with the line on the right hand side usng the rule of thirds, also leaving the top point of the post in line with the top line making the post lok much closer as if the audeince feel like they are about to turn a corner.

When using the rule of thirds when taking a picture of a bike, the picture was scaled to size so that it was ble to be placed in the correct position so that it was easier for it's audince to view so that it look for ralistic. By doing this the picture had been moved so that it was in line with the right hand side having the top of the 'L' running through the top line.

Health and Safety

Hello fellow internet users.

In photography you need to write out a risk assessment before setting anything up this is so that you no any risks of hazards towards you or others, for example if you were taking pictures of a model you will need to make sure there is nothing on set for her to fall over.

When writing out a risk assessment you need to look around the room or place for any hazards and note them down such as is there were any water on the set you will need to either clean is up before laying out any electrical equipment, or if there were any one holding any drinks all lips much be tightened on so there will be no spills. You should always look at how to solve a hazard and what you will do to prevent anything from happening.

The things you need to look at before setting anything up would be:

  • Audience/Public
  • Access
  • Lifting
  • Confined spaces
  • Animals
  • Derelict buildings/ Dangerous machinery
  • Electricity of gas
  • Fire/ Flammable material
  • Manual handling
  • Noise
  • Physical exertion
  • Heat/ Cold
  • Vehicles
  • Violence/ Public disorder
  • Water
  • Weather
  • Working patterns
  • Working at heights
  • Other

Shot Types

Hello fellow internet users.

This is a Mid shot that I have taken of Megan Duffield. When using this type of shot is when you are having to interview someone for example if you was at a Football game interviewing someone you would not have to capture facial expressions as much so you would use this type of shot as the audience are able to witness what is happening in the background as being able to listen to what the interviewee is saying.

This is a medium up shot that was taken of Haydn Hamilton. This type of shot would be used when interviewing someone such as if you was to interview someone for a documentary factual so that you were able to capture the full feel of the emotions that that are showing on their face.

This is a over the shoulder shot which was taken of Shaff Islam. This type of shot would be used when interviewing someone for a news report, this gives the audience the effect that their are a professional interviewer asking the important question for an expert point of view or maybe an eye witness.

This type of shot is a Weather shot from Hyde Clarendon Sixth Form College. You would use this type of shot when filming a wether cast, these shots are useful to tell the local public what the weather is like outside.

This shot is a Point of view shot, from another person perspective. These type of shots will be used by a reporter if he is reporting on a local spread, this is so the audience call get a full feel of the story which is being told.

This is a Two shot that I have taken of Cindy Delgado and Lydia Drew. These type of shot will be used in an interview, for example if you was to interview someone for reviewing maybe a new clothing line, this way you get two answers in one.

This is an extreme close up of Megan Duffield. With an extreme shot, these are usually found whether you was interviewing someone so that you can get a true visual in how they are feeling, or even in a film, these type of shot will be used if the character is going off to war, this way you can capture the anger in their ayes.

This is a Close up which was taken of Lydia Drew. These type of shot you would find that they can be used when interviewing someone, a close up is great to capture the way how the interviewee positions them self and they way their face looks when answering a question and you can see the facial structure more closely.

This type of shot is a wide shot of Cindy Delgado. These shots are used when you are having to capture someone maybe having to do an exercise so that you are able to view how the body works with each movement, these can be used in advertisements.
